For this project Chica and Associates, Inc. had the responsibility, as the prime, to oversee the design phase of this project. For this project we developed a schematic and the PS & E to reconstruct and widen a 2-lane roadway to a four (4) lane curb and gutter section. This section included an addition for a shared bicycle/travel lane as well as improved pedestrian facilities. Also Included is storm water drainage design. This PS & E package included all pertinent documentation including a detailed cost estimate, specifications, general notes, and complete design sheet set (plan sheets, utility sheets, design sheets, required standards, etc.). During the design of this project, we held multiple public meetings as well as met with all utility companies that were going to be affected by this design. This allowed us to prevent most backlashes that the public and utilities prepared. After the design of this project was complete, we assisted the City of Beaumont with the solicitation of the bids.
